Description

Seiko Prospex SPB079J1 1968 Re-Interpretation Automatic Divers 200M Watch. The case construction and design of this modern re-interpretation of Seiko's 1968 diver's watch is faithful to the original with cut away sides for a snug, comfortable fit on any wrist. The re-designed dial layout with arrow shaped hour and sharp minute hands alongside differentiated markers at 12, 6 and 9 provide high legibility at depth. Every detail is high quality with Zaratsu polishing adding a refined beauty and sharpness to the lugs with a mixture of mirror and fine ‘hairline’ polishing. The case is finally coated in a super hard ‘Diashield’ application to help preserve the beautiful appearance.

Manufactured to meet the ISO 6425 ‘diver’ rating the watch is able to pass all of the requirements of the most serious of ‘tool’ watch tests. A black silicone strap with substantial Seiko branded buckle and unbreakable metal keeper provides the ultimate in comfort and hard-wearing practicality for the owner. The accordion-style strap design was invented by Seiko in 1975 as a practical solution to the expansion and contraction of a diver's wrist at different depths.

The case is fitted with a stainless steel uni-directional bezel, operating with a reassuringly solid and smooth 120 click rotational motion and finished with a fine coin edge machining providing a practical easy to grip surface. The bezel displays a 60-minute scale with a luminescent pip present at the 12 o’clock marker, the bezel has been highly polished which imparts it with a luxury appearance.

Benefiting from over 140 years’ of Seiko’s watchmaking expertise, this watch is powered effortlessly by the caliber 6R15 and is a higher grade inhouse manufacture automatic movement. Mechanically beating at a frequency of 21,600vph, it will provide superior automatic timekeeping accuracy of -15/+25 seconds per day with a 50 hour power reserve. Convenient ‘hacking’ seconds function for re-setting accurate seconds time, this movement is also hand windable and with quick date correction. Peace of mind from magnetic resistance of 4,800 A/m (60 gauss) and with Seiko’s ‘Diashock’ shock protection system. Equipped with an ultra-scratch resistant Sapphire crystal, it also has an anti-reflective coating on the inner surface to help showcase more clearly the highly detailed dial. The case is sealed and tested for a water resistance of 200m.
