The Movement Towards More Bicolour Bracelets in Women’s Watches

By Amanda Evans    |   4 minute read

Bicolour Bracelets.jpg

In terms of bracelets for women’s watches, the most prevalent is stainless steel. Its resilience and versatility between everyday leisure and more formal occasionwear make it the most flexible choice. Although we have seen other materials such as leather, rubber and alternative precious metals, the demand for these is less so than previous years. As the desire for women’s watches to be easily accessorised with other pieces grows, stainless steel dominates the market.

With women’s watches becoming a key accessory to the way in which women style themselves, we have also seen an increase in the bicolour bracelet. This isn’t just solus to the women’s market as the appetite for bicoloured bracelets amongst men’s watches still exists, however this has usually been reserved for the older end of the men’s watch market. Women’s bicoloured bracelets are not solus to a specific age bracket and are seemingly admired across a much broader age range. This highlights both the desire for a stylish accessory as well as the versatility that a two-tone bracelet offers when pairing with other items.

Indeed we saw at Geneva watch fair, Watches and Wonders an array of pieces on a bicolour bracelet. Most noticeably was the Rolex Explorer (pictured above). At 36mm, it returns to the size of the original model launched in 1953 following the first ascent to the summit of Mount Everest by Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay on 29 May that year. It is launched in a yellow Rolesor version, a signature combination by Rolex of Oystersteel and 18 ct yellow gold. The black dial, now lacquered, bears the index hour markers and emblematic 3, 6 and 9 numerals that are the cornerstones of the model’s personality. This is a piece that will be loved by both men and women due to its iconic status in the watch world.

Our Senior Buyer, Lisa Broun, and International Senior Buyer Faye Soteri, share some more key pieces that illustrate the bicolour bracelets on women’s watches that we have seen from some of our luxury brands.
