One of a raft of elegant new watches unveiled by Patek Philippe this year, the Annual Calendar Travel Time combines two of the brand’s signature complications. Patek Philippe is always going to be one of the star attractions at any watch fair, and this year's Watches & Wonders in Geneva was no different. When you get up close to one of the brand's new releases, including this elegant Annual Calendar Travel Time Ref 5326G-001, you can certainly see why. This model combines the Travel Time complication with the Annual Calendar... and to stunning effect. First, let's talk aesthetics, starting with the beautiful beige calfskin strap with nubuck texture that so wonderfully complements the beige luminescent coating used on the numerals and hands. An elegant white-gold 41mm case is embellished with a guilloched hobnail motif that wraps around the periphery - a feature that has long been associated with the Calatrava. And then there's the unusual and elegant charcoal dial with its slightly granular structure that, as the brand itself says, is reminiscent of the cases of old photo camera.

Of course, it’s not just the exterior of the Travel Time that impresses. To meet the challenge of marrying up two classic complications, a whole new movement had to be developed for the watch. So Patek Philippe’s expert engineers and watchmakers produced the new Caliber 31-260 PS QA LU FUS 24H, where the annual calendar is controlled by the Travel Time function, and it is the local-time hour wheel that drives the calendar.

An Annual Calendar complication such as this only requires adjustment once per year – at the end of February – whereas a Calendar watch might need to be adjusted every month. The Annual Calendar Travel Time also features a moon-phase display, along with an indication for local or home time, plus date, day of the week and month windows, and syringe-design hands for easy legibility.

Speaking about this handsome specimen, our Head of Watch Buying, Mark Toulson, said: ‘Ever since it produced its first piece of wristwear, Patek Philippe has been raising the bar, and this year is no different.’
